Antrim Primary School
31 Station Road, Antrim, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland BT41 4AB
Antrim Primary School is now involved in an exciting project,
where our school is now having close links with a school in

Brandenburg (Germany) and a school in Hungary.
Children from Key Stage 2 will have the opportunity over the
next three years (and hopefully for several more years to
come!) to communicate and share ideas with boys and girls
from the other two European schools.
Two teachers from the German and Hungarian schools will be
visiting us from
Monday 6th November to Wednesday 8th
November.
During this visit the foreign teachers will have the
opportunity to meet the pupils and staff of Antrim Primary
School and later in 2007 the visits will be reciprocated to
Hungary and Germany.
Over the next few months Mr. Magrath's Primary 7 class will be
recording a video, which with help from the ICT department at
the Antrim Board Centre, will be turned into a dvd. This dvd will
be sent to the German and Hungarian schools showing some
of the aspects of everyday school life at Antrim Primary.
There will be several collaborative projects and visits between
the three schools over the next few years and details of these
will appear on this page. We are also looking forward to be
able to display pictures and information on our website from
our partner schools.
Keep watching this page in coming days to find out more
about how our project is developing!

COMENIUS CHRISTMAS TREE
Children from the three participating Comenius schools (Antrim, Germany and
Hungary) made traditional Christmas decorations. Some of these were then
sent to the other two schools, helping make a Comenius Christmas tree.
Our children duly received decorations from Germany and Hungary last week
and a Christmas tree (beside our Comenius notice board) was covered with
the decorations. As you will see in the photos below, there was much
excitement opening the parcels and admiring the handiwork from our partner
schools. Thank you very much - and we are sure you also enjoyed the
decorations made by Antrim Primary School pupils.
Ready to open the box of
decorations and Christmas treats
from our German friends.
Inside the box were several more
smaller boxes containing beautiful
decorations and chocolate treats.
The children were delighted with the
gorgeous decorations which will
look great on our Comenius tree.
There was even an advent calendar
containing little treats for the children -
MMMMM - can't wait to open them!
Everyone watching expectantly as
one of the children is ready to
open the box sent from Hungary.
There were lots of lovely gifts to put
on our Comenius tree - and presents
for the children - from Hungary.
We can all see the decorations and
sweets sent from Hungary. Thank you!
Some of the Antrim Primary School
pupils are shown how to make an
edible penguin by Mrs. Cummings.
The finished article! Now the
children are going to make some
to send to Germany and Hungary.
Great concentration as the penguins
are being made. The finished articles
were sent to Hungary and Germany
for their children to enjoy..
Our Comenius Christmas tree filled with decorations made by German children,
Hungarian pupils and also work from our own Antrim children. The tree looks really
well in our foyer, admired by many of the visitors to our school. A superb collaborative
effort from the three schools. Well done! A great start to our Comenius project!

holiday!
