The Water Bus We went to the Water Bus on Monday 7th November 2011. It has a water lab in the back of the bus where they show experiments about what should go down the toilet and what shouldn't. We also filtered dirty water to make it clean. We learnt about conservation of water and how it was better to take a shower than a bath. We also learnt about the water cycle and they told us the stages of it. Upstairs we watched a video about how water got to are homes. We received some leaflets about saving water and how to stop our pipes from bursting. By Tommy and Sam |
Round Tower We went on a trip to the Round Tower to find out about the early settlers in Antrim and about the tower. We measured it and found that basalt rock was used to build it. Monks built the tower around 900AD. Jack McMenamin. Castle Grounds We went to the Castle Grounds and used maps to identify where we were and what the symbols on the map key meant. We found out about the history of the castle. Ryan McCullough |
The piranhas and the shark When a shark bumped into a group of piranha's in a mythical ocean where saltwater and freshwater combine the shark boasted "I can eat much bigger fish than you pesky piranhas." Then the piranhas suggested "how about we have a contest?" "ok" said the shark "you're on." The next day they both set out to find the biggest thing they could get their jaws on.5 minutes later the monstorous shark got its jaws on a squid. The deadly piranhas were still looking for a bite. The piranhas finally found a cow having a drink of water . They swam slowly and attacked! They took it under water and ripped it to shreds. Then after the got the cow they swam back to the shark. When the shark saw the group of piranhas had got the cow, the shark just stared at them for a moment. Then the shark said" It's a fair win, a group of piranhas can eat bigger things than a shark." The Ladybird and the Rabbit. One day a ladybird was in a big garden. A rabbit sat at the far corner of the garden. 'Help, help I'm stuck a net!' yelled the rabbit. Oh I'll get you out, I've got a sharp wing that will cut it,' cried the ladybird. So the ladybird and the rabbit went their separate ways and lived life normally. Then one day the rabbit saw that the ladybird was in danger and needed help. 'Ah I'm falling, is their anyone who can save me?' yelped the ladybird. The rabbit rushed over to help the ladybird. He lifted his ears. The ladybird fell down on to his ears and was safe. 'Thank you so much for saving me, is there anyway I can repay you' 'You helped me out of that net, so we're even.' The monkey and the panda. A monkey was climbing a palm tree. He saw a panda and shouted," you are too slow I could beat you any day," The panda calmly said,"let's have a race and see who is right." So they both got a tree called,"3,2,1," off they went. At first the monkey was in the lead and so he thought," I am so far ahead I will look for a banana tree." But the monkey did not see the panda creeping up behind him and past. By the time the monkey realised what was going on the panda had gone past him. The monkey was beaten by a panda. The Puffer fish and the Shark One day a big and wonderful shark was on his daily swim, when he was noticed by a small puffer fish. The puffer fish was very impressed with the great shark, but he was also very jealous of the shark. "Look at this magnificent shark!" he said to all his friends, "He's such a big fish, but he's no bigger than I am if I tried." The puffer fish started puffing and grew from his normal size. "Am I as big as the shark?" he asked his friends. "No, no, not nearly as big as the shark," they replied. So, the puffer fish puffed himself up more and more, trying to reach the size of the shark. "Now? Now?" asked the puffer fish. "No, no. But please, don't try anymore," pleaded his friends. But the puffer fish continued to puff and swell, larger and larger until he finally burst. POP!!!!! Moral: Don't try to be something you're not. By Sam |
The Spider and the Fly One day, there was a spider in a broom cupboard of a family's house. Suddenly a big fly zoomed in. The fly got caught in one of the spider's webs. "Please, let me go!" cried the fly. "Why should I?" demanded the spider. "Please, who knows, one day maybe I could help you," pleaded the fly. "What an odd idea," said the spider, "Okay, I'll untangle you." "Thank you, thank you so much," said the fly. Next day the spider was crawling along the dining room ceiling when someone trapped him in a glass. "HELP! HELP!" cried the spider. "Is that my friend the spider I hear," thought the fly. He flew to the dining room. He saw that he was trapped in a glass. He flew to him and tipped the glass over just enough to let the spider out. The spider ran back to the broom cupboard and the fly followed. When they both arrived in the broom cupboard. Then the spider said, "Thank you brilliant pal, I'm really glad I saved you." "I'm also grateful for you saving me." said the fly. The moral of this story is: One good turn deserves another By Tommy Monahan |
