One windy day in autumn there were two
boys called Luke and Owen. They were
best friends. Mum and dad took them to
the park.
They went on the slide and it was fast.
Then they went on a big swing and it was
fast too. They saw the pile of leaves. The
leaves were green and brown and other
colours. Luke and Owen liked the leaves
because they could play in the leaves.
Luke and Owen went home because they
were going to the cinema. They went to
get ready to go to the cinema and they
watched "Monster House."

Autumn Time
One cold day in Autumn two boys were
playing with the leaves. The boys were
called Zack and Matthew. The boys live in
20 Greenvale Avenue. They live with their
mum and dad and brother and sister. Zack

walking on the path. The boys were making
piles of leaves and wrecked them and they
liked it. Their mum and dad collected them
and when they got home they went outside
to play with their friends. They played with
the leaves again. The leaves were on the
path and under the tree. The boys were
throwing leaves at each other. The leaves
were crunchy. The boys put them on their
heads.
They had come home because they were
going out for dinner. Zach, Matthew and
their mum and dad went to the China Court
for dinner. When they got home they went
to bed. They were reading in bed. Their
mum and dad came up to give them a good
night hug and kiss.

P5 children wrote a story about a poster of two boys playing in a pile of leaves. They used
these questions to help them write their story.
"Who are the boys?"
"Where did they find the leaves?"
"What were the leaves like?"
"Why did they leave the park?"
They checked their own writing carefully for punctuation, spelling and to see if it made
sense.

This is what they thought of the activity!
I thought it was really good because we knew what to do with all the questions to help us.
Chloe
It's given me some ideas for writing about Autumn in another place. It was fun. Tom
I thought it was easier to write a long story because the questions gave me some ideas.
Gregor
I liked doing it because it was fun. The questions helped me to think of stuff. William
It was really fun because the teachers are really surprised that you can write so much.
Emma
It was very good. I liked having the questions because they helped you a lot to write along
story. Sophie

One cold day in Autumn there were two
boys called Matthew and Steve. They live in
a big house with their mum and dad. They
are in the park to have some fun. Their mum
took them to the park. Matthew has black
hair and brown eyes and Steve has brown
hair and blue eyes.
When they got to the park they saw lots of
boys and girls. The two boys ran into the
park to play with the leaves. They saw a dog
and they went to see it. Then they saw a big
pile of leaves in a corner. The pile of leaves
was very big and they got some and threw
some at each other. They like the leaves
because they were colourful and bright in
the daytime. The leaves were crunchy and
good to play with.
They went home because it was getting
dark and it was tea time. Matthew and Steve
were getting hungry. When they got home
they took their coats off and sat down to
their tea.
