our Viking dig in class.
Magpie

A babbling bird balances on the fence,
It preens its wings and looks proud,
With eyes as black as the night sky,
It flips from tree to tree as they sway in the
wind,
He stares up at the clouds,
Unnerved by the world around him,
He flaps his wings and flies away.

The noisy bird

It perches on a wooden pole,
With arched claws and a hooked yellow beak,
Its black beady eyes are like shiny buttons,
Gazing into the distance,
It squawks to scare his predators,
But sits silently, until you make a sound.

The Strange Bird

She sits there with a golden breast,
Just perching on that creaking branch.
Eyes just like two little dots,
With a Mohican on her head.
She's waiting for some food to come,
Then the bell starts to ring,
Startled, she flew away.
Maybe she'll come back another day!

Bird of prey

Its eyes are like stars in the sky at night,
It stares while it waits for its prey,
Branches sway in the breeze,
as it perches in a tree.

It shrieks and squawks, the silently,
It dives down like an aeroplane at war,
Its yellow beak and razor-sharp claws,
Tears the flesh of its prey

The Wren

Its tiny beady black eyes leer at the
ground waiting for prey,

His beak is like a small orange carrot
cheeping in laughter,

His body is like a tiny ball of fluff
blowing in the wind,

His tiny wings flap getting ready to fly
into the lovely blue sky,

He fluffs up his feathers to keep warm
for the cold weather,

His big long stick tail twitches as he
hops.

The Robin

It perches on the hedge,
Its red breast scares birds away,
Its black beady eyes alert for its enemies,
It stands in the garden peering at the
ground,
As it searches for food
Its wings are like jet fighters
Fluttering through the air.

The Eagle

Big black beady eyes stare and wait for
prey,

It swoops down like a glider,

The sharp hooked beak tears at its prey.

Its wings and body are as strong yet
elegant

Its feathers are golden like the sun
shining,

It survives on a mountain top so high and
so cold.

Wonderful Wagging Wagtail

Its big button eye searches for food,
It sits perched watching like a hawk.
It soars fast as lightning over trees.
It lands wagging its tail eagerly,
Like a child waiting for sweets.
It finds food.

Our Favourite Bird

The garden bird stands alone,
The red breast has an aggressive tone,
Watchful eyes stare at the deep white
snow,
Her black beak pecks at fruit,
on the hedge row
She sings at night, as street lights glow

and Carla Patton
The Glorious Great Tit

Her amazing black eyes sparkle,
She fluffs her glorious green feathers to
keep warm,
She stands waiting silently in fear of her
prey ,
Her bright yellow breast has a bold black
stripe,
She joins her flocks of Great Tits
As they fly in search of food.

The Greenfinch

Her head bowed down searching for
seeds,

Her black beady eyes looking all
around.

Perching on a hanging feeder,

She feeds for half an hour or more.

After a feast of black sunflower seeds,

She preens her feathers so green.

The Magpie

Looking around with its big black beady
eyes,
Feeling sorrow for a partner gone forever,
He has lost his one partner in his life,
Perching on the tree where he was born on,
He never goes travels far,
He sits all day waiting.
