Archive Newsletters Newsletter No 1 - October 2008 Welcome to the first edition of the PTA Newsletter for our school. This will be a regular feature and we hope that you will enjoy reading about PTA news and events. We had our annual Beetle Drive for parents and staff on 29th September, followed by the Annual General Meeting, when the new Committee was elected for this year. Parent representatives for our new Committee for 2008/2009 will be:- Mrs V Adams, Mrs A Creighton, Dr A Cross, Dr M Cross, Mr S Elliott, Dr I Erskine, Mrs H Hill, Mrs N Monahan, Mrs H Murdock, Mrs L Patton, Mrs S Porter and Mrs K Watt. We are delighted that Dr A Cross was again elected Chairperson. Mrs A Creigton was elected Vice-Chairperson with Mrs S Porter and Mrs N Monahan re-elected as Treasurer and Secretary respectively. Events for 2008/2009 October 2008 Our first event of the year will be an afternoon for parents on Monday 27th October when apple pie and ice-cream/custard, tea and coffee will be served in the School Hall at home times. The cost will be £1.50 per person, or 50p for ice-cream only if preferred. Children must be accompanied by adults. If you haven't already indicated your interest, please inform the school office if you are interested in coming along. November 2008 Ceramics Evening - this popular event will take place on Tuesday 18th November. Details to follow. December 2008 The Christmas Fair will be held on Friday 5th December - details to follow at a later date. Further events will be scheduled for 2009, so far we are considering hosting a Chinese Buffet Evening (or similar) which proved very popular last year, a Salsa Evening, and of course our annual Summer Fun Evening. Chinese Meal Evening Back by popular demand this year we would like to invite you to a Chinese Meal night on Tuesday 2nd March 2010 at 7.30pm at Bambou, Templepatrick. The aim of the night is to raise funds to benefit our children at the school. However, we also want to encourage parents and teachers to come and spend an enjoyable, relaxing evening with great food and conversation (judging from last year's event!). The price of the meal will be £20 per head for a four course banquet and the restaurant can cater for all diet requirements (be sure to let us know about these). We will also have some fantastic raffle prizes, so come and enjoy the fun. Tickets will be available to purchase from the school office in due course.
