Welcome to the first PTA Newsletter of 2010/11 The first six weeks of the 2010/11 school year have already flown by! The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to date have run the Beetle-drive evening and assisted with the school photographs-proof photos will be forwarded shortly from Tempest Photography. The PTA Committee met on the 12th October (see be- low right) and have agreed on events for the rest of 2010/11. In view of the current financial climate and imminent spending re- view that will affect us all, we have decided to defer this years Christmas Fair. In its place we will have a series of smaller low-key events that will benefit the children without a large financial outlay in these austere times. We would like to thank the PTA President Mr Patterson for his on-going help and support. He has recruited another enthusiastic band of Teaching Staff for this years PTA Committee. We are pleased once again this year to be able to give each teacher a cash sum to spend on 'extras' for their pupils. Other things that the PTA funds (raised from events throughout the year) include hire of Antrim Forum facilities for P7 year group each week , snacks for the children on 'away days' and books for the School Library via the book club sales. The PTA funded the ArtsEkta multicultural event in early 2010 which was a huge hit with the children. Look at the school website http://www.antrimps.org.uk/ to see how teachers have used the digital cameras the PTA donated to every classroom last year! Many thanks to Amanda Cross for her hard work as PTA Chairperson for the last 3 years! Why not get involved? Antrim Primary School PTA needs your continued help and support. As well as PTA committee members there are other parents who help out at the various PTA events throughout the school year. You don't have to attend lots of meetings or commit to every event- just help out as and when it's convenient-please express your interest to any of the PTA parents, Noelle in the School Office or Mr Patterson. The events are designed for the enjoyment of the children and families, and the proceeds directly support your children. If you have any ideas for fund- raising/events please let us know. Looking ahead to 2011 There are plenty of PTA events planned-watch out for the Parent/Teacher meal, STEM week science shows, annual golf outing and of course the Summer Fair in June!
